Welcome Words by Wendy: Planning in a Pandemic

by Wendy Edie
eCom's Managing Director

Scenario planning has been the name of the game this week.

I am seeing a trend of re-setting within personal and working lives during this lockdown period.  The opportunity to look at what matters in our lives and letting go of what doesn’t.  So, as eCom closes off on one financial year, in the midst of a pandemic, it is perfect timing for us to ‘re-set’.

Relevancy in a post-COVID-19 world

Our playbook for the year ahead thankfully doesn’t need re-written but does need consideration for relevancy in a post-COVID-19 world. The future still has much uncertainty around many fundamental issues, therefore scenario planning seemed the most sensible option.   A powerful outcome is that frequently the same strategy emerges as being the right one!

Meaningful scenario planning

It is not easy reducing the ‘guesswork’ in forecasting and planning, although there are some key areas of visibility, accurate information, control and meaningful scenario planning that really help.

Having David Birrell’s experience on the eCom board for over a year now has meant that we have this invaluable information to enable us to scenario plan effectively.

So what strategies are emerging for the ‘new normal’?

  • Fast-tracking our R&D work to meet COVID-19 needs
  • Rapid deployment of learning programmes to meet COVID-19 training requirements
  • Capability Academies to support your people

As always these will be delivered with digital trust and confidence that you would expect from my team.

If you are re-setting your business needs and feel that learning technologies will bring value to your new normal, get in touch.  We would be glad to help you!

Please see eCom’s current statement on COVID:19 and Business Continuity.

Keep safe and keep going,
