The Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB)

Accessible eLearning for employment professionals and jobseekers

Read how eCom's bespoke eLearning and cloud-based, flexible learning management system, eNetLearn, support RNIB in helping people with sight loss find work.

In this instance, RNIB required help to create a programme of self-directed learning that would help increase the number of people with sight loss applying for opportunities, as well as helping organisations confidently retain existing staff who develop sight loss.  Here's how we met their objectives

The Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) is a charitable organisation which supports people affected by sight loss. In addition to employee training they offer training for businesses and professionals working in care, education and employment, to help them be responsive to the needs of the blind and partially sighted.

RNIB required a training offering for employment advisors to enable them to provide better support to the 11,000 people with sight loss in the UK who are currently actively seeking work, as well as help the individuals themselves to find employment opportunities. All elements had to meet RNIB’s high accessibility standards to ensure the learning is equally accessible to all.

  • Consultation to develop an appropriate learning strategy using a fully digital approach
  • Training that can reach a geographically dispersed audience of job seekers and employment advisors
  • Bespoke eLearning structured to be accessible for screen readers software and accessible on most devices
  • Achievement of AA or AAA standard of accessibility throughout, based on the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)
  • A partnership of learning technology specialists and accessibility experts, pushing the boundaries of online learning for the blind and partially sighted

I think the training was very in-depth and valuable, also very easy to navigate and understand. It is a great resource, so thank you
very much.
