eCom Scotland held its annual conference on the 15th March 2016 at the impressive Merchant Hall in Edinburgh

The conference is an opportunity for organisations to hear about the latest advances in learning technologies and find out how others are successfully implementing new approaches to workforce learning. The theme for the day was “Learning Ecosystems which Allow Companies to Thrive”.

The day started with Susan Gearing, Learning Technology Consultant at eCom, discussing the standards-based approach to development. She highlighted the benefits this brings in allowing different systems to collaborate and how by taking a modular approach a learning ecosystem can be created.  To find out more about this topic you can download an article by Susan here.

The Chartered Banker Institute has been a client of eCom’s for over 10 years. We were delighted to welcome Colin Morrison to present on the developments the Chartered Banker Institute have made to their secure assessment in response to the changing requirements within the banking industry. Colin highlighted the growth in online assessment, a fourfold increase in the last 2 years. You can find out more about how the Chartered Banker Institute have implemented online assessment here.

Fiona Harper presented on SJIB’s (Scottish Joint Industry Board) experience of implementing mobile and observational assessment for electrical apprentices. Fiona discussed the cultural challenges of taking their assessment online as well as highlighting the benefits, which include better utilisation of assessors time and the data now available for evaluation and benchmarking of the qualification.

To end the day, Andrew Rourke, Senior Developer at eCom Scotland, showcased eCom’s new offline secure eAssessment solution, eNetSecureUSB. The product has been developed for organisations who need to run online assessment in locations where there is poor or no internet connection. Andrew discussed the security measures of the product and gave the audience an opportunity to see eNetSecureUSB in action.

The feedback from event attendees was very positive and we would like to thank all those who attended on the day.
