The emergence and value of Open badges was the main topic discussed at eCom’s annual User Conference held on Tuesday 10th March at the magnificent Signet Library, in the heart of Edinburgh.
Bryan Eldridge, from eCom USA, kick started the event by giving a thought provoking insight into the implementation of Open Badges within organisations and stressing the importance of digital accreditations for modernised learning development. eCom CEO Linda Steedman supported the presentation with an in depth discussion on the company’s eNetBadging system with Senior Developer Andrew Rourke demonstrating how they can be used as a great motivational tool to inspire workforce development.
To finish the day, RNIB’s Linda Mitchell along with VICT Consultant Paul Warner, gave a special presentation emphasising the importance of accessibility within technology for the blind and learners with disabilities.
'Our user events are not ‘show and tell’ focussed, it’s a lightbulb event! We provide insights into issues that are out in the market place and show solutions to these. It was an eye opener for some who might not have thought that they even needed an open badge solution, but left the morning event with an idea of the way forward.' - Wendy Edie, Managing Director
The eCom User Conference 2015 was a huge success and provides a great platform for future annual events that the company will continue to host. A big thank to our guest speakers, our valued clients and the Signet Library staff who helped ensure the day went smoothly.
